Aston Martin of New England New Product Release: DB AR1 a s t o n m a r t i n - l o t u s . c o m PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK OUT ASTONMARTIN-LOTUS.COM FOR OUR CURRENT INVENTORY OF NEW AND USED VEHICLES, OUR “TECH NOTES” SECTION, AND OUR NEWSLETTERS. January 2003 saw the introduction of the DB American Roadster (DB AR1) at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Continuing the great cooperative tradition with coachbuilding firm Zagato, the DB AR1 is based upon the DB7 Vantage Volante chassis. Intended to be an ultra-low production model, the DB AR1 concept shown at Los Angeles has generated tremendous customer interest. So much so, in fact, that plans for producing 99 cars for delivery in late 2003 have now been quietly confirmed by Aston Martin. The cars will be hand built at Aston Martin’s Bloxham factory, where current DB7 Vantages are produced. In a rare twist, the AR1 will only be produced for the U.S. market. Power will come from the 435bhp version of the V12 used in the DB7 GT. The Coupe-based DB7GT is being produced for those customers who desire a more aggressive performing vehicle. The DB AR1 is engineered to appeal to customers who desire swift, open motoring. A true roadster, the AR1 will come without a top of any kind, will feature lightweight aluminum panels, and will be built in numbers that will guarantee exclusivity. Zagato models have always had a strong following among Aston Martin owners, the DB4 GT Zagato being one of the most valuable and desirable vehicles ever produced. Zagato models have always been rare, unique, and powerful. The AR-1 continues this tradition. Deposits are being accepted and are encouraged due to the low number of vehicles being produced. 4th Quarter 2003 is the anticipated delivery date for the AR-1 in the U.S. As most cars will be purchased by Aston Martin enthusiasts very quickly, we do recommend you contact our Sales Dept. shortly if you have an interest in this truly unique vehicle.
