The installation time for the foil wrap black high gloss front is around 0.25 hours. These times may vary depending on the condition of the car and the equipment in it. The installation time shown does not include any time spent on programming/coding. The calculation of the total costs for the programming time must be factored into the calculation of retrofitting costs (must not be invoiced under the warranty). Important information These installation instructions are primarily designed for use within the BMW dealership organisation and by authorised BMW service companies. These installation instructions are intended for use by qualified specialist staff trained on BMW cars with the relevant expert knowledge. All work must be completed using the latest BMW repair manuals, wiring diagrams, servicing manuals and work instructions, in a logical order, using the prescribed tools (special tools), and observing current health and safety regulations. © BMW AG, Munich 01 29 2 455 929 12/2020 (V/Z) 7.0 1/25 If you experience installation or functional problems, restrict troubleshooting to approx. 0.5 hours for mechanical work and 1.0 hours for electrical work. To avoid unnecessary extra work and/or costs, send an inquiry to the technical parts support team. Quote the following information: – VIN, – retrofit kit part number, – a detailed description of the problem, – any work already carried out. Do not archive the printout of these installation instructions. The current version can be found in the EPC. Pictograms Denotes instructions that draw your attention to dangers. ! Installation information All illustrations show LHD (left-hand drive) cars; proceed accordingly on RHD (right-hand drive) cars. Installation is shown on one side of the car only, proceed in the same way on the other side. Installation is shown on the G32; the same installation procedures apply to the other cars. Differences are described in the relevant section. The ambient temperature for bonding and drying must not be below 15°C or exceed 35°C. The foil application adjusts to the surface of the car under the influence of heat (direct sunlight, hair dryer); if required this can be used to get rid of air bubbles trapped underneath it. If the Frozen Black foil application (part number 51 14 2 458 194) is installed on the G20, the M Performance logo sticker (part number 51 14 2 461 811) must not be installed. If the side skirt foil application (part number 51 14 2 458 236) and the M Performance logo (part number 51 14 2 461 811) are installed on the G05, the Frozen Black foil application (part number 51 14 2 456 383) must not be installed. The following processing instructions apply to the retrofit kit: The bonding surfaces must be completely dry, clean, and free from wax or grease. The bonding surfaces (1) must be cleaned with a cleaning cloth (2) and suitable cleaning products. © BMW AG, Munich 01 29 2 455 929 12/2020 (V/Z) 7.0 2/25 Do not apply excessive pressure to the surfaces of the car with the blade (1), otherwise you may inadvertently cause damage. After running the blade over the foil application, wait for approx. 10 minutes and then carefully pull the application tape off the foil application at an angle of 180°, wetting the application tape liberally with installation solution if necessary. Press any projecting edges down with the blade (1). Foil application sections with edges abutting the door openings are to be positioned in such a way that the end edges (1) touch the opposite edge of the gap (2). The foil application sections are then to be pressed around the edge and smoothed down with the blade. M Performance Frozen Black foil application, left/right G32 installation Refer to the installation instructions on page 2. As a result of the door seal, the front door foil application B is only aligned using the gap to the rear door. Position the front door foil application B flush on the bottom edge (1) of the door, positioning the edge (2) flush on the edge (3) of the rear door. Use the blade to smooth from the centre first horizontally and then vertically. Remove the top backing foil application and also remove the white projecting foil application. Ensure that there is a straight line between the rear door foil application C and the front door foil application B. Position the rear door foil application C flush on the bottom edge (1) of the door and align the rear door foil application C centrally between edge (2) and edge (3). Use the blade to smooth from the centre first horizontally and then vertically. Remove the top backing foil application and also remove the white projecting foil application. Ensure that there is a straight line between the rear door foil application C and the rear foil application D. Position the edge (1) of the rear foil application D flush on the edge (2) of the rear door. Use the blade to smooth from the centre first horizontally and then vertically. Remove the top backing foil application. Ensure that there is a straight line between the front door foil application B and the front foil application A. Position the edge (1) of the front foil application A flush on the edge (2) of the front door. Use the blade to smooth from the centre first horizontally and then vertically. M Performance Frozen Black foil application, left/right F39 installation Refer to the installation instructions on page 2. Install as described in the section entitled "M Performance Frozen Black foil application, left/right G32 installation". Deviations for the F39 are described in this section. Position the front door foil application B and the rear door foil application C flush on the top edge (1) of the cladding. Align the template X on the upper component edge (2) of the rear apron and at the side on the refractory edge (3) of the rear apron and press it into position. Align the rear foil application D on the bottom edge of the template X and on the refectory edge (3) of the rear apron, press it into position and run the squeegee over it. Do not apply any foil application to the wheel arch trim (4). Ensure that the lines are straight between foil applications A, B, C and D. © BMW AG, Munich 01 29 2 455 929 12/2020 (V/Z) 7.0 16/25 13. M Performance Frozen Black foil application left/right G01, G01 LCI, G02, G02 LCI and foil wrap black high gloss front G01, G02 installation For G01, G01 LCI, G02 and G02 LCI cars: Refer to the installation instructions on page 2. Install as described in the section entitled "M Performance Frozen Black foil application, left/right G32 installation". Differences for the G01, G01 LCI, G02, G02 LCI are described in this section. For the G01: Cut the rear door foil application C along the cutting edge (1). Use template G01. Align the template G01 on the upper component edge (3) of the rear apron and at the side on the refractory edge (4) of the rear apron and press it into position. Align the rear foil application D on the bottom edge of the template G01 and on the refectory edge (4) of the rear apron, press it into position and run the squeegee over it. Do not apply any foil application to the wheel arch trim (5). For the G02: Cut the rear foil application D along the cutting edge (2). Use template G02. Align the template G02 on the top edge (3) of the rear apron and at the side on the refractory edge (4) of the rear apron and press it into position. Align the rear foil application D on the bottom edge of the template G02 and on the refectory edge (4) of the rear apron, press it into position and run the blade over it. Do not apply any foil application to the wheel arch trim (5). For G01 LCI and G02 LCI: The rear foil application D and template for G01 and G02 are not required. M Performance Frozen Black foil application left/right G01, G01 LCI, G02, G02 LCI and foil wrap black high gloss front G01, G02 installation For G01 and G02 only: Align the foil wrap black high gloss front E in the centre, pressing both sides (1) into the corners of the air intake grille and ensuring that the edge (2) runs straight. Install as described in the section entitled "M Performance Frozen Black foil application, left/right G32 installation". Deviations for the G05 are described in this section. Align the front foil application A on the refractory edge around the air breather contour (1). Align the front door foil application B on the front foil application A and the refractory edge of the door bead (2). As a result of its proximity to the door seal, the front cut edge (3) on the front door foil application B on the front door must not be positioned against the opposite edge, but only up to the door seal. Align the rear door foil application C on the front foil application B and the refractory edge of the door bead (2). As a result of its proximity to the door seal, the rear cut edge (4) on the rear door foil application C on the rear door must not be positioned against the opposite edge, but only up to the door seal. Ensure that the lines are straight between foil applications A, B and C. Align the front foil application A on the contours (1) and (2). Position the front door foil application B on the refectory edge of the bead (3). Position the rear door foil application C on the front foil application B and the refractory edge of the door bead (3). Ensure that the lines are straight between foil applications A, B and C. Align the edge (1) of the front door foil application B along the refractory edge of the door bead (2) and on the door gaps on the opposite edges. Align the edge (1) of the front foil application A on the refractory edge of the door bead (2) and on the start of the radius (3). Align the edge (1) of the rear door foil application C along the refractory edge of the door bead (2) and on the door gap on the opposite edges. Ensure that the lines are straight between foil applications A, B and C. M Performance Frozen Black foil application left/right and foil wrap black high gloss front F40 installation Align the foil wrap black high gloss front E in the centre, pressing both sides (1) into the corners of the air intake grille and ensuring that the edge (2) runs flush along the air intake grille. M Performance Frozen Black foil application left/right and foil wrap black high gloss front G06 installation Refer to the installation instructions on page 2. Install as described in the section entitled "M Performance Frozen Black foil application, left/right G32 installation". Differences for the G06 are described in this section. Place the templates S1, S2 and S3 as shown on the edges of the doors. Ensure that the lines are straight between foil applications B and C. Align the foil wrap black high gloss front E in the centre, pressing both sides (1) into the corners of the air intake grille and ensuring that the edge (2) runs flush along the air intake grille. M Performance Frozen Black foil application, left/right G22, G23 installation Refer to the installation instructions on page 2. Install as described in the section entitled "M Performance Frozen Black foil application, left/right G32 installation". Differences for the G22 and G23 are described in this section. Affix the template X on the front of the car as shown along the refractory edge (1) on the door and the refractory edge (1) on the wing. Affix the template Y on the rear of the car as shown along the refractory edge (2) on the door and the refractory edge (2) on the wing. Place the front foil application A on the contour (3) of template X. Place the rear foil application C on the contour (4) of template Y, ensuring that it is flush with the refractory edge of the door (5). Align and position the door foil application B along the refractory edge (5) of the bead and centrally between the two foil applications A and B. Ensure that the lines are straight between foil applications A, B and C.
